Today, i covered the floor with bubblewrap, then rolled over it with the order picker.
Ok, the other part now.
This week, the boss took a bunch of vacation days he had accumulated to get the week off. Normally, this isn't so bad.
But now, the guy who normally takes care of floor-related stuff (tiles, hardwood, carpet, etc...) apparently got hurt. So he was unable to go to work. Which meant i had to replace him.
Everything in that departement is done with a forklift. You can't expect to move a 4ft high pallet of ceramic tiles alone. Those thing weight about 3000-4000lbs... So i was sent there to do "what i can".
And since i had to go do that, the paint guy, "Mr. Ninja" decided to help me with my departement before i went there. He earned the name "Mr. Ninja" because he keeps bragging about how he learns martial arts, and trains all the time, and can lift x amount of weight and do y many push ups and whatever. But he's a really skinny guy, and obviously not the kind made for heavy lifting and stuff.
So this resulted in him constantly going "Hey, you're not trained, you shouldn't lift this, let me do it..." then using an uber-complicated way of doing the thing without using any real strength. And any attempt at doing it myself resulted in him actually getting in the way because "You can't do that, you'll break your back and hurt your muscles, you're not trained like me". Constantly. Even if it's stuff that i normally do each day.
In the end, it took 3 hours and a half with his "help" to do what i can normally do alone in about an hour or two.
Then in the floor departement, it was hours of transfering 50-100lbs boxes of tiles and pockets of cement and other junk from pallets to shopping carts, then to the shelves, since the pallet truck we have can't carry the weight of those pallets. Also got a few pallets of anti-skid recycled rubber mats. Insane stuff. It weights a ton, bends like crazy, and being anti-skid things, it's impossible to slide them. That absolutely killed me. At the end, i was barely able to move my arms.
Then the next day, i avoid "Mr. Ninja", but even more of the floor covering stuff. My arms were already hurting from the last day, so it was hell. Also, one of the order picker died, motor broke, so everyone was fighting over the remaining few. Which led to me having to do everything with the mobile stairs.
And now last night, more of the same, except "Mr. Ninja" was gone, so i had to take over the paint departement too. Insanity again.
So now i'm completely dead again, arms hurt like hell. So sleep now.
Also, i need to poke people who owe me comissions.

Date: 2006-11-02 05:49 pm (UTC)At least I know what to offer the Pyxaron dragon if I go visit him. That should keep me safe as well, from all the stuff in his lair, but well, I'll probably get it off me if the dragon ever has another "bubble wrap pop" crisis. :X ... X3
