Sep. 10th, 2006 04:03 pmFixed the bike. Partially.
Cables were broken, 2 of the smaller gears in the shifter were missing teeth, the chain was rusting, and the breaks were sticking.
I got some insane oil. I mean, it makes what looks like a spider web between the gear and the chain when moving. WHich i find awesome.
Also, i'm getting rather annoyed at the parents about their "cleaning up" methods. I had a big box of parts. I kept it in the shed, just next to the door. They decided to clean up. So that box got "cleaned up". I ask them where my parts are. I get the usual "they were a mess" answer. I ask again. "They're in the basement, with the tools and junk." Great, this means anywhere in the other half of the basement that isn't my room. I spend half an hour searching, nothing, i give up and buy new part, since the parents left.
I come back, the parents complain that i bought new parts when i made them keep the old ones, and that i should throw them away from now on if i'll just buy new parts.
I ask them about the box of parts. Same "It's just in the basement!" answer and blah. After some arguing, they go search for it.
Result? They have no idea where my box of parts is either.
Grr.
And you have no idea how often that happens. I end up re-purchasing parts and tools so often since they always "Put them in their place", because "They'd make a mess" or "get lost in your room" otherwise. Then, they are never to be seen again until they just fall out of nowhere and get in the way when NOT needed.
Blargh.
