Aug. 2nd, 2006 08:44 amAnd whee... Thunderstorm of DOOM! yesterday. That's why i spontaneously disappeared from the net.
It was really insane. Yesterday was a record-breaking day as far as heat and humidity goes. Since my air conditioner couldn't keep up, and since my mom told me we could see flashes and that there was some insane wind, i went outside.
After sitting outside for about 20 minutes, we saw what was pretty much a huge wall of black clouds move over us, with lightning all over it, in a true "evil is approaching" way. Which was awesome.
Once it was over us, rain started, and the thunder and lightning just became almost constant. And with the wind, it was really impressive. The streets flooded rather quickly, and the power went out repeatedly for short periods.
It actually lasted over half an hour like that. The whole family just sat in front of the living room window watching it. It was constant lightning, and flashing in the clouds. And completely black.
Apparently many trees broke and things were dammaged because of the storm in other areas.
At some point, due to the power failure and heat, i decided to order chicken instead of cooking spaghetti.
... that went bad.
After one hour, which meant i was about 45min away from leaving for work, i called them to see why i hadn't received my food yet. Their answer? "Oh, we didn't tell you? There's a 1h-1h30 delay due to an unusual amount of customers."
Grr.
After some complaining, they told us the delivery guy had just left with my order, and should be there in 5-10 minutes.
20min later, just as i was about to call them again, the delivery guy got there. So 25min to eat a whole chicken. That wasn't exactly easy.
At least, with the rain, i got a ride to work in the van, which allowed me to leave late.
Work is nice now. Back in seasonal, so i can take my time and do the job properly. It's odd, we're already receiving christmas stuff, and the day people are starting to switch the floor to winter mode.
And today i also had to go help in the plumbing departement. Which was kinda interesting, as a "first time" thing.
It would have been nice if the storm had kept going long enough to make the power go out at work.
Anyway, that's all for now, i need to try to sleep. And not melt instead.
