May. 11th, 2006 08:50 amI am back from my first night of work.
It wasn't so bad. I didn't get tired or anything, obviously. And it's a lot easier than i expected. Scan the thing with the wireless thingie, it shows a code like 01f02. I go place the thing on the row 1, column f, shelf 02. Then what's left goes on the top.
Pretty much all i have to do.
The people i work with are kinda funny. All people you would expect to do other stuff. Two are techs...
And things other than the job seems to have decided to hate me. My bike got a flat tire, which i found about just as i was leaving. I had to get work boot with steel caps, which completely wrecked my feet and hurt like hell. Then the busses went stupid. A driver had his sign set to 60 when it was supposed to be 61, so i got on the wrong bus, headed the opposite of where i wanted to go. Then i transfered to another in the right direction, but that dropped me off over a kilometer away from home. So walking was painfull...
I wish the scanner/wireless thingie/portable computer we had weren't so symmetric, and that the laser didn't come from a side. I scanned my forehead quite a few times because i tried to scan without looking at the thing.
Keeping it in my pant's pocket also resulted in random keypresses.
It's also a bit funny. With my room and bags and blah, i'm used to packing things in ways to make the most thing fit in the smallest space. Due to that, i seem to have the ability to fit about 3-4 times more stuff on the shelves compared to most people working there. This resulted in many people wondering where it disappeared. I'm happy.
And my boss is kinda cool, and thinks i work too hard.
... i also desesperately need sleep.
