Whee... Stuff.

First, yesterday kinda sucked. I went with a friend from work and some others to see grindhouse downtown montreal. We got lost repeatedly along the way. The movie was awesome, but then when we came back to the van, the passenger side center window had been smashed, and all the backpacks and other stuff that was left in had been stolen. I called the cops, they couldn't do much. They stole the old dell i was converting to use as nav computer and some wiring, as well as backpacks of friends, one containing a PSP and DS and other stuff... Which really sucks.

And replacing the window is apparently going to be about 400$...

And with the movie, if i had known who did that, i think they'd be roadkill by now.

The rest of the weekend was pretty much all spent working on the van, and going around to see stores that sell car parts and blah. Found out that lots of people have no idea what they're talking about. I went to stores, asking questions about what i can fit as alternator and blah, and what some parts were. I had pics on my laptop to show it to them...

Turns out the part that 2 told me was the voltage regulator was actually the solenoid, and that the voltage regulator was behind a metal panel at the front. So yeah. I don't think i can give much value to their advice. And there's also a lot of them that are absolutely sure of what can be done and what can't be done, but are absolutely clueless when asked why.

I also found out that the guy who did the wiring in the motorhome most likely had no idea what he was doing. Things go absolutely nowhere close to where it says they should go on wiring diagrams. And the wiring seems to be made of random wires taped together when the one in place wasn't long enough. So no surprise the alternator didn't work...

So i'm probably going to rewire the whole thing. Whee, fun. I just wish i had a way to easily get some kind of somewhat proper color coding going on.

Anyway, sleep for now.
