Mar. 17th, 2007 07:59 am*grins* I got all wheel drive and i'm not afraid to use it!
Today has been rather interesting. We're getting what is probably the last big snowstorm of the year. As far as snow goes, it's nothing impressive. But it's the wind and ice under it that makes it hell.
We lost power twice at work. And where the wind blows, there's barely any snow. But when it's blocked, there's a MOUNTAIN.
So when it was time to leave work, everyone kept joking about how even my truck was going to be burried. *grins* Turns out there wasn't any snow on it.
But the parking lot was in the process of being plowed, so there were huge mountains everywhere around our parking area, making us rather boxed in. So everyone just stopped and complained and waited for them to come and finish cleaning. Which sometimes takes up to half an hour, since they do the whole shopping center, then go swap for the less wide but longer buckets then pile up that snow.
So after about 10min of waiting, i just decided to try going thru the whole thing.
And that turned out to work extremely well. Just punched a hole in the thing. It was just light snow after all, but it was rather impresive to see and fun to do. Even more impressive since the exhaust is broken on the truck before the muffler, so it's really loud.
That got an interesting mix of simultaneous "that was something stupid to do" and "thanks, i really didn't feel like waiting" reaction from the older coworkers.
And of course, the ones closer to my age just cheered and joked about how my van is apparently kinda like the ninja turtle truck. I have no idea why.
I also got a few experiences as far as sliding on black ice and stuff goes today. And saw that the anti-lock brakes apparently suck...
Now, sleep!
