Sep. 15th, 2006 10:09 amWhee... More work.
I think i go "Wheee..." too often.
This week began very slow, but suddently, due to murphy's law, i got 11 pallets to take care of. Which was a big difference from the 1-3 pallets per day i've been getting since monday. Made a fun day, at least. No time to get bored.
Yesterday got interesting. The order picker i was using ran out of battery almost spontaneously at some point. Which resulted in the platform suddently dropping down, and the picker not having enough power to drag it along. I got in a situation where if i lifted the platform, it would fall back down when i tried to move, and if i tried to move with the platform down, it stalled.
So i had to find a way to lift it just enough so it would not drag, and move slow enough that the motor wouldn't drain the power enough to make the platform drop back down. Going across the store took about half an hour at that speed... And everyone was laughing, it was just so ridiculous. If the thing didn't weight a few tons, it would have been faster to just push it.
I'm also starting to annoy people by finding new ways to drive the pallet trucks. I found places i can push against to make it drop down faster, and a spot where i can get my boot stuck to make it stop suddently. And i'm getting better at moving two at once and stuff. Which is kinda fun, and more productive.
And i'm very tired now.
It's funny, at some point i was really bored, and had a roll of those big neon yellow circles we use to tag stuff, so i drew those (crappy pic taken with cellphone) and stuck a few in various places, also left a few on the rolls. And now some are starting to show up unexpectedly in random places. I feel proud-ish of that. *grins a bit*
It's interesting when you don't expect them to show up. Cheers me up, for some reason.
Completely different topic.
I'm really getting sick of how overmediatised the shooting in the college in Montréal is. Yeah, it sucks that it happened and blah, but not every single news thingie talks ONLY about that. And they try to use every last bit of information they can. And they stretch it. And blah. The 4h30 news were 30min straight of JUST THAT. Showing people crying and other going on about how horrible it is and what a tragedy and blah...
It happened, yeah, keep us informed, but it's not the ONLY thing that happened in the last two days. I mean, we had two planes land in the city, one safely on a street, the other crashlanding in the two days before. I want to know what happened with that too. But no, not a word.
And the people aren't really much better. I hear people in the bus going on about how they're afraid to go in any school now, because all the other schools don't have any measure put in place to prevent shootings and blah.
... as if those happened every day or two, yeah.
And talk about how trenchcoats and whatever should be banned. How they should make sure all web content is regulated so that there wouldn't be any webpage like the one of the guy who did that.
Because yeah, that's going to help.
Meh. There's a reason why i normally avoid TV and medias. All the 9/11 stuff, then that this week... They suck.
I think i need to sleep now. Soon. Or something.
