Apr. 10th, 2006 09:21 pmAnd an update to cover the last part of the tip!
The last week was spent just outside and in Boston with Dan. Lots of gaming and internet time, a decent amount of wandering around, birds, battleships and food. Overall good.
Battleship cove was probably the most fun part of the whole thing. Battleship, Submarine, Russian Missile Corvette, Destroyer... Lots of things to play with. Guns, Knobs, valves, levers, buttons and switches, closed things that were not meant to be opened... I got to aim the sub's gun at the destroyer and accidentally turn on the alarm on the sub. Running around those ships is awesome. And i could do that without being able to break something. Well, accidentally at least. Those things are huge. I absolutely want one. Not now, but once i have the ressources to. They are fun to climb in. And we managed to miss closing time and stay in there later than we were supposed to be.
I found the boats just awesome, really. Heavy metal, weapons, lots of controls and buttons, and just the size of the things. I'd love to live on one of those and just mod it beyond recognition. I feel extremely comfortable with all the climb space and tight passages and stuff. I really want one. I think it should be possible to use newer tech to make them run with a really reduced crew, and cheaper engine/power related stuff.
I'd be happy with something the size of that russian missile corvette and the destroyer. That way i wouldn't have to bother with governement and stuff. If i don't like a country, i just float away. And those are big enough for my junk.
After Boston, i went to Plattsburg for a night, just so i'd be able to catch the Amtrak train to Montreal. I stayed with Icarus, after Aurora referred me to him. Then the next day, i finally left for Montréal. Getting the border wasn't a problem, and i finally got home around 8pm.
The next few days involved lots of running around poking people i hadn't seen for months, and doing some work.
Today, i finally decided that i needed to shave and get a haircut. It started very normally, but quickly went from the regular me to something possibly weirder. My beard got a rather odd look which i found very funny. It's probably going to go back to it's normal style in a few days. But i took advantage of this to disguise myself as "Angry Businessman Pyx" and go around the city, kinda "roleplaying" this and searching for good deals in store secretely while enjoying confusing people who didn't recognise me at all and looking for jobs.
Then i got home and started working on V4 a bit more, now that i have a decent screen to do that.
