Mar. 25th, 2006 09:18 pmOk, the previous day. Met up with Myr in Harrisburg. It was nice finally meeting him, after all those years. Other than that, lots of travel. Too much. And it turns out that Greyhound Chicago is an awesome station. Better than any of the other i had been to before. Not much happened during the rest of the trip, so it was rather blah.
And i've discovered that people in Harrsiburg tend to be idiots. It took them forever just to give me an orange juice. Because the girl at the register got confused about where "orange juice" was. Thinking it was in the breakfast menu. Then she asked a coworker, who very usefully pointed to the orange juice distributor behind her, and said "It's right there, how stupid are you". Which led to bitching, then the manager showing up, pointing to the orange juice on the menu, going "It's there, 1.69$ for a large.", then joining in the arguing about who's stupid.
Finally they all discovered that it was in "Drink". The surprise!
After that, they proceeded to try actually serving that orange juice. The girl first filled a large glass (the soft drink large), then as she was going to bring it to me, the manager told her that orange juice is more expensive, so a large orange juice goes into a medium size glass. So, she throws the orange juice in the trash... Wasting a large glass or supposedly expensive juice, and making a mess as it slowly started leaking out of the bag.
So she started filling a medium cup. Which she then proceeded to drop as she was waslking back with it. And not because she hit something, or because the glass slipped. She let go of it as someone started talking to her. She then proceeded to stare at it blankly for some time, before finally asking someone to clean it up and going back to filling up another glass. A soft drink size large one. Which she threw away as she remembered her previous mistake as it was near full. Then she filled a 4th glass, medium sized this time.
Against all expectation, this one made it mostly full to the counter. The straw and cover got dropped along the way, and she spilled a bit of the drink as she bent over to pick them up, forgetting that she had to keep the glass perpendicular to the ground. Then, after a bit of staring at the straw and cover, then at the orange juice, a coworker gave her a new cover and straw, finally solving the very complex problem of picking things up on the floor while holding a drink.
So that took forever, and i finally got my orange juice.
I also had to deal with very sarcastic replies from the front desk when i asked if they had internet in the rooms, and how much it costs. "Duh, yeah, we have internet and it's 200$ a night. Pay now." ... yeah. Then i had another who actually went in the back, then returned to tell me that "They charge us (299$ or something) per month for the internet, why?".
And at the bus station. Black womans arguing with everyone. Because everyone's invading their space if they don't sit at least 3 chair away, and they're being racist if they tell that they have as much right to sit down as them. And their kids going to the counter, and complaining that the distributor ate their money repeatedly and asking for a refund, then as the people at the counter caught on what was going on, they started making threats, yelling it was racism, going about how "they mean business" and "they have contacts" and blah. They were probably not older than 10 years old. And the parents where cheering.
Some amish people also kept staring at me. They can be scary.
So... I'm kinda happy to be away from there.
I'm now on my way to meeting up with Rashan again, then going to see Xyie in south carolina with him. I know Rashan and Xyie don't know eachother, so i'm a bit worried. I know normally they should get along fine, but i know sometime it sucks to be brought along with two other people who know eachother well, and i don't want that to happen.
Anyway, on the bus, going from Washington DC to Richmond, VA. Should be there at 23h, then in Charlotte, NC at 5h00. Still on schedule, so i guess i should make it on time.
