Jun. 13th, 2004 01:07 amIf anyone wants to go to La Ronde when there are fireworks, this information will be usefull...
The brigde close for bikes at 20h00, it closes for pedestrians and vehicles at 20h30, it reopens for pedestrians at 21h00, and reopens for bike and vehicles at 23h00.
... i got there at 20h31. Had to leave my bike in a park near the bridge, wait, and get to la ronde on foot... Blah. At least it was late enough, so i didn't get sunburned even more.
I think something happened while i was getting there, i saw two dozen security person run out of la ronde and run up toward the bridge. I have no idea why...
The fireworks were... unusual. They seem to be trying to be doing a show that includes fireworks more than a firework show. (Did that translate correctly?) Not a lot of special fireworks, no huge booms... Disapointing. But what they did on the floating scene was cool. People wearing fireworks, flamethrowers, things on fire... It was well done, except that some of the spark shower thing didn't work, which made some parts look weird and unbalanced.
And they had some extremely cool bouncing foot-thing. I'm not sure how to describe these things. It's like a long stick that attaches near the heel and goes diagonally down and past the toes... I didn't see these things from close, so i can't describe them really well. But i want some. That looked insanely fun, and if it works like i think, the kind of speed you could get on the ground with these things would be incredible. I need to find out what they are...
... and someone, please steal the batteries from my FRS radios. I just can't leave them off. It's a thingie that goes beep...

Going back home was kinda fun. Found a person that was going back to Laval and who apparently wanted to race. I have no idea who that was, but we raced all the way back. I lost him just a little bit before the bridge.
It was one of these weird situations where we're both trying to lose the other while trying not to make it apparent... The kind of thing where you only try to get in front of the other if you can make it look like if you were already going faster, and simply wanted to pass him. You don't speed up as the other tries to pass you, and you don't try to block him. I'm not sure that explains it well, but whatever...
... tired now. Should probably go to bed.
